My Weekend Job

October 29th, 2006 by angelstyle56

Walking aimlessly in the shopping complex,
Carrying a HUGE Motorola paper bag that alwiz koyak one side. End up asking for staplers whenever see I enter a shop.
Sungei Wang, Lot 10, One U, Mid Valley, Bangsar, The Curve.
We rotated around these locations since 2 weekends ago. For the rest of the girls besides me did those 4 weeks ago =P

We were suppose to raise brand awareness among the public for the new MOTOROLA KRZR phone. I’m sure most of you all hav heard of it.
Yea, it’s the new phone that looks so bloody gaya but so bloody hard to use. SMS’ing used to be a breeze for me. But with this phone, I rather call than sms. So plz call me.. don’t sms me during the weekend. I will most likely not reply =P
As I was saying, we raise brand awareness by walking in groups, dressed in a very ugly uniform by MOTOROLA, carrying the paperbag and phone. People would definitely notice us. because of our mofo uniforms. Sometimes they approach us but most of the time they’ll just stare from afar. Guards would come to us and ask us to disperse coz it’s illegal to walk in a group dressing alike. Ya, we could be terrorist terrorizing shops and boutiques and scare away the customers. Of coz, none of it happened la..  Usually the staffs in the shops will approach us..
"Wah, telefon baru! Best nyee! Suka laa!"
Wait til u try to SMS.

Anyway, there’s nothing much to describe about my job. That’s basically it. Easy huh.. Walking advertisments. However, as easy peasy as it sounds.. This job is dangerous to my wallet.. or shud I sat, ATM CARD.
Sad to say, I spent over RM 1K in just two weeks.
Shock? HAHA, try being in a shopping complex for 2 weekends in a row. There are MNGs EVERYWHERE! Don’t ask me how much I spent in there .. I’m grieving for my poor atm account.

Here are some pictures during my job. The nice ones are taken by MALCOLM, our unofficial photographer =P
More to come but I’ll upload it on my Flickr

My First Hand Experience in an AD Production

October 18th, 2006 by angelstyle56

I had to wake up at 830 am yesterday. Because I had to go allllllll the way to friggin Serendah (Rawang) for my ad shoot for Nescafe. Where is Serendah? Serendah is some place in Rawang where it is an Orang Asli Kampung.

Orang Asli Kampung? Nahh, my role was not to act as one laa.. I dun hav to wear my bra and panty to bathe in the river ler..

My agent picked me up from my house at 915am. We had to go to the production house first to meet up with the rest of the talents. We reached there about 10 am. From there, we had to go to Serendah on our own. NO TRANSPORTATION was provided by the Production House because they were already there at 430 AM~!~!

Anyway, my agent and I drove behind one of the talent’s bf’s car which was a Merz Compressor. We were in a "1.0 Ferrari". They were leading the way because they were having the map. My agent’s "Ferrari" was doing it’s best to follow the other car at 130 km/hour. His "Ferrari" was practically floating. Each time at the toll, the Compressor had to wait for us because we had to use the Stupid Tag as we’re not SMART.

We got lost a few times as none of us are familiar with that area. Finally, we managed to reach Serendah Police Station after an hour ride. The production ppl came to pick us up because we cudn’t make out the map’s direction after the Serendah Police Station.

On the way to the shooting location, we had to pass the orang asli village. Throughout the journey, it reminded me of the route to Cameron Highland. If you’ve been there before, there are alot of org asli kampung’s along the road to Cameron Highland. It was the same here in Serendah. I even saw lil kids answering Nature’s Call at the roadside. We had to hon them as they were too engrossed in finishing their business =P

When we almost reach the shooting location, we couldn’t drive in because the road was too narrow. Thus, we had to walk there and it was about 3 mins walk on soft sand ground. Mind you, I was wearing heels and I was practically making holes on the ground. Yes, my heels were very dirty after the walk.

Once we reached the shooting location.. I was like .. wow..
The place is a perfect escape from the hustle bustle of the city. It’s like a mini resort hidden in the jungle. There were chalet’s between the trees and they were very well maintained. There was even a glass house built right above a stream. Beautiful. Now I know why the place was chosen for the shooting. Too bad I didn’t bring my camera along. If not, you can see what exactly I saw that made me fell in love wit the place.

Despite the haze, I took a deep breath to fill my lungs with so-called refreshing air of the jungle. Haha.

We had to do our make up immediately in one of the chalets there. The chalet was pretty nice. Got air-con, 2 queen size bed and open air toilet and bathroom. Cool uh.. U can take ur piss and shower while the monkeys watch u from the trees =P

My scene was suppose to be in a house. So they had to put "house" make up for me. It’s amazing that what make up can do. They put really thick make up on me but it looks like nuthin right? They also gave us our outfits which was just plain shirt and jeans. Each of us had different colors. I wore yellow, malay girl wore pink and indian girl wore blue.
Dsc00251

All 3 of us were ready by 2 pm. They were still shooting sum mat salleh girl at that time. She’s damn pretty la.. typical european face but damn kao sombong. Her agent clinged on to her like so scared other ppl will take her away from her. She’s one of the Main Talents ler.. Her pay was RM 2.5k.. O.o" Mine’s like.. AH@!! Dun wanna saY!!

Anyway, while waiting, me and the other 2 girls in my scene did some bonding session over lunch and tes since we are close friends in the scene. Over LUNCH AND TEA! That’s how long we waited to do our scene.

Our turn came only at 4pm. Waited bloody two hours. Our scene was in the glass house I mentioned earlier. It was raining at that time and it felt so cosy.. Ahh.. With all the greens  and the pitterpatter of the rain, I felt like dozing off.

Finally, my first time in a production of a tv commercial. To tell you the truth, I was pretty nervous at that time. It’s like I was so afraid that I’ll screw up and because of me, we hav to retake and retake over and over again. While the crew set all the cameras and lightings, the director told us what we should do in this scene. He’s a very nice guy. Very friendly and he actually remember us by our names~! Tho I suppose it’s his duty to do so =P

Anyway, for this scene, all 3 of us are suppose to act like we’re having fun playing scrabble while enjoying NESCAFE.. Of all the people, I had to hold the fuggin hot mug with REAL NESCAFE in it! I was sitting in the center holding the mug while my two other friends "playfully" squabble over the scrabble. If holding the hot mug wasn’t bad enough, the Director asked me to stand up and do a retro dance! Damnit, it was so freaking embarassing! Doin a stupid dance in front of 50 ppl staring at u.. It’s sumthing very very new to me kays~ My two other friends who were in the same scene did few ads b4. So they didn’t had hard time acting ler. We were suppose to laugh throughout the whole scene. And the director kept asking us to laugh loUDEr and LoudER! More energy! More Happy! Rachel Laugh! Siti Laugh! Mira Laugh! Louder! Louder! Bigger! AH AH AH!
When he yelled Cut! My mouth already started aching.. That’s only for 1 take.. I think we took about 10 takes.. Of Laughing outta NOTHING.. Each retake, they will change the coffee.. so I had to hold HOT COFFEE the whole time. While I was holding it, the director kept yelling.."Nescafe IN.. Nescafe OUT.. In.. Out.. In.. Out.." Luckily the Nescafe didn’t climax. If not I’ll be covered with brown Sperm. Heehe..

During the act, I really felt ridiculous la.. It’s like I feel so fake.. well, it’s memang fake la.. I cudn’t imagine how it would look on camera. But when I saw them playing the scene they took of us on the screen, it actually looked good and real. Coolios! I can actually ACT =P Color do really play a big role. The combination of our outfits were really nice. It actually harmonized.

We finished at about 530 pm. Which means we were laughing for 1 and half hour non stop… Gosh.. I’m never gonna laugh for another one week. Damn tiring okayy…

Left the place with my agent in his "Ferrari". Luckily we didn’t had to follow the Merz anymore coz I think the "Ferrari" got something loose in the body d =P

All in all, it was a great experience to be in an ad production. Though I know my actual price was actually higher than what was offered to me, I’m just glad that I get to be in one AD before I leave the country =P

p/s: If u happen to see this ad on tv, make sure to notice my hands okay! If u see Scrabble board, sure can see my Nescafe Mug.. it might appear for a split second ler =P

p.p/s : Ferrari was actually a Kancil ;)

Piercings = Bad Luck?

October 15th, 2006 by angelstyle56

Maybe u’ve heard it before.. from older generations..
That simply poking holes on ur face and head will change ur luck..
For good or worst.. Mostly they’ll say the more holes u have, u’ll face the latter.

Two weeks ago, my mom discovered that I pierced another hole on my ear which was the 3rd one. She was like..

"Why u pierce so many holeS?! Do u know u can POH SUI? (Break luck - direct translation) Look at ur Sam Sam, (My uncle’s wife who’s living a very lavish life now - she serves as a baby machine and a walking latest hair style and fashion trends) she got no piercings on her ear! Take urs off now!"

Wondering why my mom connects piercings to my aunt’s ear? Apparently she has no holes. And as I mentioned, she’s a living, walking $$ who only needs to produce babies and look pretty. Her hubby sayang’s her so much that he gave her a sports car, top handbag brands - LV’s, Coach and etc, bring her around the world (jus exagerating but u get my point.) and bla bla bla.

How does piercing is connected to my aunt? My mom, the superstitious scientist came out with this theory.
"She doesn’t have any piercings on her face and body. See her luck so good?! Only those un-educated ones will simply pierce many holes. Look at those VCD and Handphone dealers? All so Bo-Che-Euoh (em sam em sei - i dunno what’s the translation for english but she meant those kinda jing jang joe’s u see at Sg. Wang ler)

I was like .. "wtf?"
I’ve seen successful people with holes that’s enough to tear a piece of their ear.
Who elsE? Celebrities la.. got see them suffer before or not?!
*sweat*

That was my first time hearing this kinda superstition.. about piercings..
To me, I pierced because I felt "gatal’ed" at that point.. Wanna syok sendiri. I did not ask for anyone’s permission that time coz I thought, who would bother and noticed?

Bad move.. I had lotsa problems after it because my 3rd hole. Not bad lucks or whatever. I faced not so positive responses from er.. people who were close to me. They gave me a hard time because of the 3rd hole. Apparently, it made me look wilder..
=_="

Who cares anyway… to tell u the truth, my mom’s theory definitely didn’t apply to me. Not that I’m superstitious or wut.. Ever since I got my 3rd hole, I had .. pretty lotsa good luck..

The day after I pierced my ear, I received a call from my friend. He offered me a job that pays really well for quite an easy task. 2 weeks project. That’s reallly reallly good ya know. 4 digit pay. For this project, I had to drive to Cheras Maxis Center every morning. That place is known for limited parking space and amazingly, no matter what time I reach, I’ll always get a parking space very near to the Maxis Center. Some of my colleagues weren’t too lucky =P My job was to follow a Maxis supervisor to train the Hotlink dealers about Hotlink’s New Plans. Lucky for me, my supervisor was a super nice guy. And the area that I covered wasn’t tough compared to my other colleagues who had to cover Sg. Wang and Pertama Complex. The dealers there are known to be notorious. Thank goodness for me, mine was all quite good people. At least they paid attention to me while I train them. My training skills however were not .. er.. very good as I had to converse in Cantonese and to those of u who know me well, u know how bad I sound trying to speak the Canto.

Anyway, back to the main story, as I was saying that my 3rd hole brings me luck.. My 2nd luck came when I went for the casting for the Nescafe ad. If u’ve read in my previous post, I said I went for the casting outta pure fun. I had nothing to do anyway. I never had any hopes of getting into the ad.

Yesterday, I received a call from my agent. He wanted my body measurements.

I GOT INTO THE AD! My first TV Commercial.. I’ve been to several castings before and I failed all =( but alas.. LUCK Prevails! Hehehehe..
Though I’m only like the featured talent not main talent.. But still.. At least I’ll get to experience what is it like to be in the production of a TV ad!

In conclusion, does my 3rd piercing affect my life up til now? So far, it’s been helping me alot =P Not that I’m superstitious or what.. My mom’s theory… does not apply to me at all. So am I gonna take it out?! Hell no! Hahaha..

I wanna pierce my NOSE … Should i? Hehehe..

Ps : Actually Chinese ppl do believe that changing one’s face will also change their luck. That is why ppl remove moles because they believe that the particular mole may bring bad luck to them. So long u modify ur face, it will change the course of your life. Piercing is a form of modification. So.. That’s why people pierce their ears in the first place.

A Shot for Commercial Casting

October 7th, 2006 by angelstyle56

"Casting for NESCAFE tvc. At T*i Casting, 3*B, *nd flr, Jln SS22/23, Dmnsara Jaya. Today till Sunday, time: 10am-9pm. Dresscode: bodyfitting or skirt & blouse. See Ra*dy & tell him S*firul send u. Pls sms/call before u go."

tvc : TV Commercial

I received this msg from S*firul (actually I don’t know him and I never met him before). He’s actually a tvc casting agent and coincidently, he has my profile.
When I saw my msg.. I was actually contemplating whether to go or not because
1. It’s so far away!
2. Very slim chance of getting the ad.
3. I got typical Chinese look. Usually they look for mixed up face ( mix-blooded laa)
4. Went for few castings before.. ALL FAILED
5. Kinda gave up ady.. (sedar diri liaooo…)

Despites all the reasons above… I decided to give it a shot.. (tak sedar diri lagi .. =P ) Since I had nothing to do today. So, travelled all the way to Damansara Jaya with CM (thanks babe!).
Thanks to me, we found the casting agency thru the MAILBOX! Bloody agency got no CHIU PHAI (signboard). How they expect the ppl to look for them laa.. kebodohan yang tidak terhingga..

Anyway, went inside the office.. which was quite.. er… not well-furnished. Was feeling quite.. skeptical about the place but well.. I’m already there.. Can’t possibly run away aight?

Filled up my particulars and waited for my turn.
Last question in the profile paper.
"Have you done any ads for competitive brands? "
Even if I did, I wouldn’t write it there =P Lowers the chances of gettin into the ad that they’re casting for rite?

Waited about 15 mins for my turn.. Almost sleeping while waiting. When it came to my turn, I was introduced to the casting director. He led my into the rooommm…. then ask me to strip!

Nah.. Just kidding..

Anyway, when I was in the casting room, he asked my a few question about my background and stuff. Then he showed my the scenes for the Nescafe Ad. There were a few scenes and different requirments for the scene. Initially, I was suppose to be casted for sum model look-a-alike scene.
1 . Tall, slim and slender.
2. Beautiful.
3. Dresscode: bodyfitting or skirt & blouse so can see body shape.

=_="
What in the world was S*firul thinking when he wants me to cast for this scene.
1. I’m SHORT
2. I’m FAR from SLIM and SLENDER

But not too worry, there were other scenes which did not need these requirments. (relieved..)

Procedure in Casting Room.
Firstly, they’ll ask you to introduce yourself and then do profile shots. Profile shots are face, halfbody and full length shots of yourself.
After doing so, the casting director will then decide on a scene where you have to act it out. In my case, I had to act out several scenes.
1. Act as GF enjoying her cup of NESCAFE while watching the SUNRISE with her BF

2. Pretend that I was in a CONVERTIBLE and I’m enjoying the ride with some hot hunks by my side O.o! If only there were hot hunks there.. haha. I’m suppose to act happy and flirty, while a fan blows at me (so-called wind blowing scene ler)

3. Next one I had to act like I was enjoying a cuppa cappucino and getting whip cream on my lips and act HAPPY! The casting guy actually put whip cream in a glass and ask me to act out the scene. I had whip cream all over my mouth!

4. Last scene, I was suppose to pretend that I’m on a rooftop partying with my friends. I had to laugh and chit chat with Hantu 1 and Hantu 2 next to me.

While acting out all the scenes, I really felt damn silly coz I had to pretend that there were actually ppl with me. I know it’s suppose to be like that but trust me.. it’s not that easy to do so.. especially with only a camera and a man  inside the room with you.

I was done playing ad girl after 20 mins. So mentally torturing =P
I’m suppose to receive a call from my agent next week if I’m in, but based on my previous experience.. The chances of getting in is EXTREMELY LOW.. Therefore I I don’t set my hopes and guts in this industry. SEDAR DIRI Ler…
I went for the casting only for fun laa.. and at least there’s sumthin to write in my blog =P
So next time if you’re called for TVC casting, this is basically what will happen la. So be prepared and make sure you get lotsa sleep before the casting day. You wudn’t wanna look like a panda unless.. they wanna cast u for an Anti Insomia ad or sumthin =P

Color Color at A Cut Above Academy

October 4th, 2006 by angelstyle56

Navvii and I went for hair coloring correction session at A Cut Above ACADEMY few weeks ago. Ya ya, now only I blog about it coz the previous time when I wrote everything nicely ady, stupid browser hang kei! Anyway, I was given two vouchers for color/highlight from the previous charity event held at Times Square by A Cut Above Academy. Ps, I also got 2 more body massage vouchers. Any volunteerS?
So, just thought of giving my hair a new look and since I love Navvii so much! I brought her along for free hair coloring as well! Seee, that shows much I love u girl!

Reached there about 345 pm. Greeted by friendly students from the Academy. Kk, good feeling good feeling. We were then led to our seats where we’re gonna be given new crowns =P Naturally us being girls, we were choosy about the color and Stuart had a hard time choosing a color for Navvii coz her previous hair colors were in patches =P Tu la, DIY lagi! For me, I wanted a non-lala color. No BLEACHING coz it’s fcuking damaging.. So ppl, to those of u who wanna bleach ur hair, don’t do it if unless you wanna look like a scarecrow’s head.

Finally decided on our colors, the students started to work on our hair. I had 2 cutesy wutsey boys; Kenny and Freddy who were funny enough to keep me entertained while doing my hair. While working on my hair, both of them and the EDUCATOR kept saying " Oops, experiment fail liaoo.. no color liaooo.." the whole time.. sheessh! So evil.. eh, it’s academy u know.. of coz got lil scared letting 2month old student handling my beaudifool hair! Anyway, I trusted the EDUCATOR as he knows I will not make his life easy if my hair turn cacated =P

After the dye was applied on our hairs, we had to wait for 45 mins for it to set into our hair. So.. as usual, Navvii and I cam-whored.Dsc00157_1

Dsc00158_2
Dsc00159_1
Dsc00161

Okay, I know we look like aliens =P
The ear piece thingie on Navvii’s ear was suppose to protect her ears from kena’ing the dye. It made her look like … Nvm =P

After 45 mins. Finally, they washed off the dye from our head. Couldn’t see the color as our hair was still wet. Mine wasn’t visible at all even tho dry ady =P
Navvii’s had to blown into curls and her hair was freaking thick. Took 3 guys to blow her hair. And she was wear a low cut tank top. She’s a D Cup. If me also I’ll take my time .. hihi

Final Result!
35183846556892l

Yeah la, bad picture coz camera lousy!

Our day ended up pretty fun! Left the Academy about 730pm. Made new friends and Navvii - Admirers =P

Overall Review

Service : 9/10 (Very Friendly and Enthusiatic Bunch of People!)
Skills : 8/10 ( I’m very happy with my highlights! It finally came out =P Just exactly what I’ve always wanted.. Thanks Stuart!)

Would I recommend you to go there?
Hmm.. Well, if you don’t mind taking the risk… =P Some of my friends who went there.. didn’t quite like it but so far for me, everything came out okay =)
